So, we’re well into our first official full design project as Leclair Decor. Our good friend, Dylan has hired us to decorate his new condo. Tasks thus so far have included paint colour selecting, wall paper choosing, light fixture finding and of course furniture buying! He threw almost everything out and is starting from scratch. Even though his budget is pretty decent, we can’t help but to find him great deals so he can splurge on a few big items.
This week was coffee table time. I saw this one from West Elm and thought it was perfect. We asked Melissa’s father if he could possibly make one similar. Sure he said, in 6 months (He’s really busy right now). No sweat. That night I made another regular stop at the local Home Sense and found this gem. Legs are slighlty different but the top has the same beautiful wood. And for $150 vs $450, you can’t go wrong.
I also had some interest in getting Dylan this stump from West Elm. Something I’m learning with decorating is it can be hard convincing someone to spend $200 on a wooden stump. Can’t really blame them though. My friend Kimio had mentioned to me he was working on a few for his house and might not keep all of them. Offered to buy one, but he insisted on giving us this one for free. Score! $0 vs $212 = winning.
Of course I had to try them out in our own house before taking them over there the next day. Kinda jealous to be honest. Well.. we’re having a blast doing Dylan’s place. Look forward to a few more previews as we attack projects along the way and the big reveal in hopefully a month (or two).
